Registration process

Register with your basic information such as username, password, email, age, country, and ethnicity. You’ll then be directed to a simple questionnaire with about 20 questions about your location, lifestyle, and what you’re looking for in a match.

Profile set-up

During registration, you’ll also start to set up your profile. Create a headline and fill out a description of yourself (minimum 100 characters). You’ll also be prompted to answer a couple fun, but optional questions to be displayed on your profile like “What’s your ideal first date”. After you’re done with all the typing, upload your profile photo and you’re all set.

Notification settings

Go to ‘edit profile’ and choose which notifications you’d like to receive.

Messaging

PoF’s messaging system includes flawless communication and read receipts.

Message filters

You can specify the kind of person that is allowed to contact you with message filters like country, age, distance, photos, and more.

Daily matches

Members will receive daily matches based on your common interests, location, what you’re looking for in a relationship, and other similar qualities. You can ‘like’ these matches and message them right away.

Member search

You can browse the member database using simple filters like age, location, and height to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Relationship Chemistry Predictor

This online dating site’s most interesting feature is the Relationship Chemistry Predictor. Following a set of questionnaires, PlentyofFish requires its members, who want to assess the chemistry level with other online daters, to state their opinion in reference to 73 statements. This test focuses on five personality dimensions, then uses the results to match you with potential romantic partners.

Local PoF websites

PoF is aware that having a general online dating site, catering to the masses, and having a huge user base can actually sometimes make it harder to find that special someone. Private images

Women can send private images to other members via messaging. This privilege has been removed for men.

Report a profile

Harassment, underage, scammers, or suspected catfish? You can report these profiles to PoF.

Report images

See an inappropriate image with nudity, violence, or hate speech? Report it and it will be taken down after review.

Block other members

You can block members who have messaged you by going into the actual message and clicking the ‘block’ button. Blocked users will still be able to see your profile but they will not be able to contact you.

Hide your profile

Need a break but don’t want to completely delete your profile? You can hide your profile where it won’t be visible to others. During this time, you won’t have access to the site’s features like messaging or browsing.
