Registration Process

Create your basic profile with a username, email, and password. Then comes the ‘match’ part of Match.com where you’ll answer a lengthy series of questions about your lifestyle, hobbies, interests, values, background, etc. These answers will be featured on your profile, as well as, used towards matching you with potential partners. Next, create a short headline and personal summary to represent you. The final step of the process is to upload a photo of yourself via Facebook or your computer.

Notification Settings

It’s easy to customize your notifications by going to your account settings and choosing which notifications you’d like to receive.

Approved Photos

Your photos must meet Match.com’s photo criteria with guidelines such as no nudity, no animations, and no racism – the usual stuff.

Messaging

Send and receive messages like you would on any other messaging platform. There is a cool feature where you can enable a filter to reroute messages from members whose age or location isn’t what you’re looking for to another inbox. This saves you time and prioritizes your best matches.

Daily Matches

Members receive daily matches chosen for them based off of the Match.com algorithm. Like modern-day dating apps, you can approve or pass on which matches spark your interest.

Member Search

The most comprehensive member search out there! Match.com gives you the power to find exactly who you’re looking for down to what kind of sports they play and interests they have. There is even a keyword search in case you’re looking for someone who talks about, let’s say, poodles in their profile. And of course, you can keep searches simple with a basic age and distance search, too.

Around Me

This is a great way to shake things up and discover new potential matches. Rather than searching for people who live or work near you, this feature allows you to press a button on the phone app to check out profiles of users who were in the same physical location during the past 24 hours.

Incognito Mode

If you fancy digging deep into your fellow members’ profiles without alerting them to the fact, Incognito Mode is for you. By clicking on the button that appears at the bottom of every page you can make your profile invisible for 24 hours or longer, and other members will not receive notifications nor will appear in the list of views.

Boost

When you feel like you’re not getting the attention you deserve, Boost will increase the visibility of your profile, helping to get your profile in front of more users.

Events

Due to the membership capacity and success rate of Match.com, the site also promotes social events where members get together at venues near them, have a drink, enjoy fun activities and get to know each other better. With a Match.com subscription, you can get special discounts on these very successful dating events.

Verification

Members are prompted to verify their identity by linking to other online accounts such as Facebook or Twitter. Once you’re verified, your profile will display a verification badge.

Report a Profile

You can report users whom you feel are inappropriate or fake and Match.com with manually suss out the situation.

Hide & Blacklist

You can hide a profile which you don’t want to see popping up in your searches (but they can still contact you), or you can blacklist a profile which is the same as blocking (members will not be notified that you’ve blocked them).

Incognito Mode

View profiles and browse matches without other members being notified that you’ve visited their profile.
