eharmony’s virtual tour shows you what to expect as a member of this online dating site, from registration to interacting with other members on the site.

Registration Process

The registration process isn’t the quickest, but it is fun! First, you’ll enter your email and create a password and username. Then you’ll answer a series of basic questions about yourself (age, location, kids, etc.). All of these answers are used to help find your compatible matches.

Profile Set-up

The registration process will throw you right into setting up your profile, so be ready with your ‘about me’ section. You’ll then answer some questions about what you’re looking for in a match (distance, age, etc.). Next, you’ll complete the Compatibility Quiz to help you find your perfect match. This quiz is based on 32 dimensions of compatibility, and it saves you time by presenting you with good matches so you don’t have to waste hours sorting through profiles yourself. Finally, upload a photo and you’re ready to pick your paid subscription plan. Set aside about 20-30 minutes for this whole process.

Notification Settings

Enter the ‘account settings’ tab where you can choose which notifications you’d like to receive, from newsletters to notifications when you receive a new message or match.

Approved Photos

Photo guidelines are pretty straight forward: no nudity, no vulgarity, no weapons, and no racially aggressive photos. Just be responsible and your photos will be approved.

Messaging

Once you’ve uploaded your photo, sending a message or a wink is very straight forward, and messaging includes read receipts.

Browse Members

A simple interface allows premium members to browse members based on filters such as location, gender, age, and even more detailed filters such as eye color and ethnicity. You can also browse anonymously with the premium subscription. Each match comes with a compatibility score on their profile so you can visually see how close a match they are for you.

Personality Report

Each eharmony subscriber will receives Personality Report based on the answers you give in the Compatibility Quiz. This individualized report not just tells you about yourself, but also describes what type of partner would best match your personality.

Dating Advice

eharmony offers a Dating Advice website that features updated content every day. this includes blogs and articles about relationships and dating, and is a great place to get tips and advice.

Icebreakers

One of eharmony’s special features is the Icebreaker. eharmony’s Icebreakers (also known as Q&A) are essentially quick messages that you can send to another member who you’re interested in. They are already written for you, so you can avoid the sometimes overwhelming task of thinking up a perfect first message yourself! This feature is accessible to both paying and non-paying members.

Safe Dating

Scroll to the bottom of any eharmony page and you’ll find the ‘Safety Tips’ section, which is extremely comprehensive. It includes 3 video clips which cover safe online dating habits, as well as, safe ‘in person’ dating tips.

Furthermore, since you’ll be provided with compatible matches instead of selecting profiles yourself, this greatly reduces the risk of fake accounts or scams.

Block Members

Creepy user? Simply block them and they will not be able to contact you or view your profile.

Verification

With the data that eharmony collects from its users, they’ve been known to shut down accounts if the member is legally married, if their personal information doesn’t match public information, and if they violate the terms of service in any way.
