I used eHarmony in 2013 and was delighted with the quality of my first 5 matches, I went on 5 great dates with really lovely people but alas not chemistry. I did meet my now best friend though! Problem was that after those first 5 there were no more viable matches coming up regardless of how broad I made the search criteria. Surely they had more than a handful of members in the UK. In short high quality but not enough members to make it worthwhile going through the very detailed profiling process.

I have been separated for 4 years but was unable to join e harmony as I am not single. I feel that this is very judgemental and felt totally knocked back. It had taken me a long time to pluck up the courage to join a dating site. I did my research and chose EH but wished I hadn’t! It should make it clear that you have to be single or divorced. I chose the separated option and was then refused acceptance. This is awful. Just because I haven’t gone down the divorce route, it doesn’t mean I am unfaithful… As I said separated amicably for 4 years. How dare they decide I’m not good enough! Couldn’t even log back in to delete my account. It said come back when you have your decree nisi. Awful site!

      Hi Wendy,

First of all let me say how sorry I am that you were hurt by your experience with eHarmony. I’m sure anyone would feel the same.

We reached out to eHarmony on your behalf to find out more. They explained to us that they restrict membership in order to protect their mission to create “long-lasting relationships”.

You could argue that this is rather a black-and-white policy for a complex area of life – and I would agree – but it would be impossible for them to judge each case on its individual merits.

They also asked that you contact them via your eH account, or call 0800 028 0308 to speak to their customer care team.

In the meantime, we would highly recommend EliteSingles as an alternative. It’s excellent for those seeking serious relationships and sets no restrictions on membership. You can sign up and give it a try by clicking here.

      Good luck!

I found eharmony dreadful. I am 30 miles from London, so I just clip the western edge on their minimum search radius. This seems enough for them to match me with the whole of London, which means I got very few realistic matches (for many reasons I do not want to date in London).

Eharmony was a complete waste of time. I had one date after the very long drawn out question and answer process. We couldn’t have been a worse match! It was a bit like their adverts meeting the camel.

      Hi Andrea,
Thanks for your feedback. These Questionnaires have a great deal of success but at the end of the day, love is not a perfect science. It’s always advisable to exchange messages before you meet on a date, that way you can see how compatible you really are before you meet.
Hang in there, and as the saying goes, its often the last key in the bunch that opens the door.
Don’t forget to let us know when you have a good date too!

Those are really a lot of questions. Is it really worth going through all of them? Can they really make a good prediction?

      Hi Laura,
Firstly i’d always recommend you filling out these questionnaires, obviously they are intended to help you find matches, but can also help you discover more about yourself and the person you are looking for.
How often can you honestly say you ask yourself these deep and meaningful questions?
Before you start looking for someone, its always good to look at yourself in detail.
In addition to that, these questionnaires are often developed by psychologists and will really help find someone with a similar outlook and similar interests to you, and that’s a great starting point when looking for a potential life partner.

    Terrible

I went through what for me was a difficult registration but to get the right matches this is the right thing to do. The advert stated 5 days free no card required. Once clicked go I was matched up with men not women. If they cannot get this right what hope for anything else. Finally got that sorted myself and click on ladies then asked for card details WHAT HAPPENED TO 5 DAYS FREE. Asked to be removed straight this seems to have been agreed but no we are sorry and can we help.

    I really love eHarmony!!!

I recently joined eHarmony and I have to say it’s a great website for dating. The registration process is a bit lengthy, but worth it eventually.
I never thought online dating was my thing, but I guess you never really know, right?
